This May issue of Insiders Report marks the 38th year I have been publishing this newsletter.
That is 149 quarters without missing one.
The first issue in May 1986 featured articles on the new federal tax law. The top individual tax bracket then was 27%. Today, it is 37% plus other add-ons. The corporate rate was 33%. Today it is 21%.
The State of Michigan was offering a tax amnesty. (that kept us busy). The IRS formed a task force to study tip reporting and the U.S. Department of Labor changed their rules to require all restaurants to pay for employee uniforms and cleaning.
The Kallas newsletter is not a cut and paste subscription service like you see the many newsletters in circulation today. I personally write each newsletter touching on subjects that are timely and relevant to my restaurant clients. When I started, no accounting firm anywhere in the country was publishing a restaurant newsletter.
I felt it was important to keep my clients informed and to spread my knowledge to others.
During Covid, we sent e-Blasts almost every week to keep you informed of the daily changes to how you do business and the government programs you were eligible for.
Going forward, whether it be e-Blasts or newsletters , we intend to continue to inform you of new laws, trends, management techniques, tax tips, opportunities and warnings.
